I maintain, in this economy, it would be nearly impossible for an unemployed 24 year old to secure $10-20K in credit.

As previously stated, and completely ignored, he spent slightly over 4000.00 for all his weaponry and ammo.

I post as I read so I did not see this until after I wrote that.

Critical thinking and looking at facts would tell most anyone that giving an unemployed man $20K in credit would be highly unlikely. But I suppose anything is possible, right?

No problem, you are still a valid part of the debate. I meant no disrespect.

Yes right, you would think lenders / banks would be careful with their credit policies but look at the young people today who are swamped with debt.

Could he possibly have gotten a student loan and had unspent money ? That's a very good possibility.

If he was living on student loans or a scholarship (I believe I read he had some sort of scholarship), he could get a credit card.

Are you kidding? First, others have estimated he could've spent much less than that somewhere closer to $5,000. Secondly--it's not that hard to get a few credit cards and rack up that much--especially if you're pretty certain you're not going to have to ever pay those bills off. Hell, he could've had a trust fund or parental support or savings--he came from an upscale community in San Diego.

Well, we'll have to see. If a 24 year old unemployed student did have a CC with a 20K credit limit, I'd say THAT was a bigger threat to the USA's long term stability than owning guns.
