We're talking about a country with only about 6 million people(the size of a small US state) and a land mass similar to a New England state. Yet, they continue to get foreign aid from us and we keep finding ourselves in conflict with other middle-eastern countries, due in no small part to our defense of Israel. One can even argue that 911 was spawned by resentment of our aiding and abetting Israel.
All of the untold billions we spend a year on Israel is akin to the Neocon's version of welfare yet, nobody in Washington has the balls to question it.
Why all the sanctimonious treatment? It's not as if Jews make up a significant part of our population.
Oh, boy. It just may be that Israel is the most stable country in the Middle East, and they are our strongest ally.
Israel is an enemy of the U.S., and the constant pandering these idiot politicians go through with Israel is yet another sign this country is broken and can never be fixed.
Personally I hope the U.S. crumbles. People here need to feel some pain.
I am all for reducing the amount of aid the US gives to Israel....but I'd like to really know how one can go so far as to call Israel an "enemy" to the US?
Don't give the US Liberty Story from nearly 50 years ago (which if it was from any other country, would have been quickly forgiven) or the fact that Jews apparently killed a religious figure over 2,000 years ago.
Such meddling underscores what is widely known but rarely discussed outside intelligence circles: Despite inarguable ties between the U.S. and its closest ally in the Middle East and despite statements from U.S. politicians trumpeting the friendship, U.S. national security officials consider Israel to be, at times, a frustrating ally and a genuine counterintelligence threat.
Then there was the infamous Fox News report on Israels spying activities against the U.S.
Israel is of a huge importance to maintain American military presence in the ME. The question is - why do you need it? A rhetorical question.
The only ones who need it are the special interests and lobbyists for the Defense Industry(ie. the shareholders of Ratheon, Lockheed Martin, etc.), oh and that factory in China that makes those "Support Our Troops" signs.
