Riiiight. It's exactly like that. An 18 year old being sent to some overseas battlefield to kill or be killed is not "managing" anything. He's "being managed" by politicians in Washington that you don't think he has any right to vote for or against.

I agree with this.

Stupid thread - I'm out of here....

I hereby propose that we crown this thread as "most deranged thing ever posted on city-data."

But a voter is managing something. He needs to have the knowledge, wisdom, and experience to make complex and irreversible decisions about the governance of his country. An 18-year-old soldier isn't necessarily qualified.

Question for all: Would you give up your vote for the common good?
Question for you: Who gets to decide what is the common good?

In America, the electorate. Is this another trick question?

But according to you, "the electorate" needs to be redefined away from its traditional meaning... now doesn't that sound familiar?

Certainly a worthy nominee, but have you seen a couple of the other doozies that popped up this week? There's one discussing if married men with kids should automatically get paid more, one advocating for $115K as minimum wage and yet another "we didn't really land on the moon" conspiracy thread.

CD should do a "Most Ridiculous Poster" contest. Can you imagine the list of nominees?
