Oil becoming a problem again, that's not new as it has been happening periodically for decades. The WH is thinking out a little bit of relief.

Probably not a good idea right before elections. Appears too transparent and desperate, like swapping VPs.

What's funny is that 4 years ago you would have been screaming about the president being in cahoots with all his "oil buddies".

No doubt he's concerned that 2012 setting the record for highest overall gas prices is going to reflect poorly on him, so it's no surprise he's scrambling to do what he can to lower prices.

our military consumes as much oil in a day as Sweden, so that isn't helping and neither is the ethanol mandate or his EPA.
Obama could address all of those, but talk of releasing reserves is far more politically expedient, if not useless.
