Yep, they were right:
- Mentally unstable
- Gun fondler, Soldier of Fortune type who worshipped snipers
- Divorced white guy

Yep, let's not do psychological evaluations before we give anyone without a felony conviction or a past commitment to a mental institution firearms. After all, denying guns to dangerous, mentally unstable people who even their parents fear would violate their 2nd Amendment rights. If we start denying guns to sociopathic gun fondlers, it's only a matter of time before they come for the hunting rifles of mentally stable, responsible gun owners!

A situation much like that happened in a small city in my state. Two officers went to a house to serve a warrant and the guy started shooting killing them both.
It is probably a bad thing to say, but I am glad those cops killed the A&M shooter. No lenghthy trial, no appeal years dragging on if they did convict him. He got his just rewards.

Don't see where you're getting this "gun fondler" whatever that means, or "soldier of fortune" type, or even that he worshipped snipers.

HuffPo is really pushing his craziness on facebook, but I'm not seeing it. Nothing they report (Ha!) from the guy's facebook page is in any way abnormal. The step-father says more about the guy than his facebook does.

Well it looks like he got his gun when he was still "sane" back in May 2011.
Same storyline as the Colorado shooter..he was sane when he bought the gun.

How would stricter gun regulations prevent something like that..going crazy AFTER you bought the gun ?

Hopefully the Illinois State Police will be confiscating Jessie Jackson Jr's FOID card and his guns now that he's been certified...

There is no magic 8-ball. We both know that. Imagine the toll if no one else there was armed.

Imagine the toll in Aurora if carrot top's AR-15 hadn't jammed.

We need two things, and neither has to do with gun regulations:

1. Get rid of the whole insanity thing. Hell, we're all half nuts, anyway, or we wouldn't put up with the crapola in this society.

2. Free up law enforcement personnel to kneel down next to a shooter caught on site and put a round right behind his ear.

No hearing, no bail, no trial, no lifetime recreation at taxpayer's expense.

Murder innocent people in public, you get a third eye, pronto. Now THAT would be deterrence.

I'm far from being an opponent of guns but I really don't see why people need assault weapons for self-defense.

Assault rifles is a poor name for an automatic or semi automatic weapons. Its something the media has pushed on the public. The only assault is the person committing the assault.
Regardless, people have these types of weapons because they are fun to shoot. No different than having a sports car (not a Miata, more like Corvette). It cant be used legally to its potential. So, do we want to call them Assault vehicles? Silly isnt it.
People kill, whether its with a gun, knife, poison. By the way, more people commit suicide with guns than murders.
Now, people that are physco shouldn't have weapons legally. But, it is very easy to buy guns without going to a store.
So, if the feds ever decided to go get everyone's weapons, there would be another civil war. There are more guns registered in the US than most nations have in their military.
