It increasingly strikes me that the ordinary working populations of much of the world have been duped into following one or other political ideology, neither of which is in their favour. Nowhere is this more true than in America, where it can be summarised like this:
Republicans have been lead to believe that everything wrong is the fault of th government, and this leads them uncritically into the arms of big business.
Democrats have been lead to believe that everything wrong is the fault of big business, and this leads them uncritically into the arms of government.
But the fact is this: government and big business are both wings of the same elite, totally detached from the lives of ordinary people. We must not reject either in favour of the other, but both in favour of new, better, more democratic ways of organising our society.
I believe we must have a new society that rewards innovation and hard work, but which also cushions the blow of failure to which which we are all susceptible and which makes us risk-averse if left undampened. This new society must not let any spark of talent be extinguished for lack of opportunity.
These are surely principles on which all of us, except the few who truly benefit from the present bent and broken system, can agree.

Sounds like a good idea, but it won't happen. The 2 sides of partisans are so hateful toward the other side it is impossible
We should be talking about the issues, but the media keeps on diverting the sheeps attention. The newest latest "important" issue, is what some irrelevent guy from Missouri said regarding rape
God help us if that is the issue the media and elites want us to focus on
THIS is what I have been thinking for such a long time! We either need a viable 3rd party or a revolution at the grass root's level, coming from people of both parties.
Kudos!

A group called "Americans Elect" sort of tried to do that this election cycle, via an online nominating process.
It didn't work out. Not enough people could agree on a single candidate. And so it goes.
Let's not worry about whether or not it looks likely at this juncture - let's just have some props for solidarity! Common people of the world, you are one!!!

The ultimate goal of most of the "common people" I know is to become uncommon; that's not going to happen in the Workers' Paradise.

You are putting the cart before the horse. Before you worry about candidates or bringing down the two-part system, why not just have the discussion with your friends, family, neighbours etc about how ordinary people on both sides of the political spectrum are really in the same boat, and should be seeing themselves in opposition to the whole elite, not aligned with one part of it or another.
And that ordinary people of all nations really have each others' interests at heart - our 'own' elites never do!
