Should the USA have used the draft rather than allow criminals including murderers and rapists, neo nazis etc to join up ?
A group of US Marines did not know what lighting bolt SS runes meant, either they were very thick or neo-nazis.
The advantage of criminals in the US Army, Marines is what ?

Military conscription violates the most basic of all human rights -- the individual's right to contol his own time.

But i'm sure that, if they succeed in taking away more of our liberty and property, the (pseudo-) Liberals will be back for that, in the form of "National Service" or similar Lefty-rot.

In general, absolutely we should have a draft and it should be damn near impossible to dodge it. I'd also be for mandatory tax increases to pay for wars.

Perhaps people would be a little less eager to engage in wars of choice if their kids had to go fight them and they had to pay for them. And just maybe we'd have a few less atrocities committed when we do need to go to war.

When they voluntarily join the military, they are doing just that, just as when a recent college graduate trades his/her autonomy for the regimentation, plus the constant feigned self-effacement of "Korporate" life.

Direct military conscription -- enslavement by government fiat -- is another matter entirely.
