I am not sure, I heard Obama say there is no plans for action but that is what you would expect him to say. He could choose to let the U N inspectors gather evidence and go from there. But the OP is right this could turn out to be a ugly situation with Iran saying any bombing of Syria they will attack Isreal. And China and Russia both against any military action so I am hoping we stay out of this mess. Is it worth it?

As soon as Syria started using chemical weopons they should have known the results. Same rational that got us into Iraq. Obama is Bush 2 from a military stand point and the results are predictable as they were for Bush. Were going into Syria with cruise missiles and drone attacks. And we as tax payers are picking up the tab as usual.

WW III is a joke perpetrated to scare us all. What is WWIII. I think the first gulf war was look at the size of the coalition. How does one determine WWIII?? Is it end of the world? If you think some pissant dictator in Syria will determine nuclear detonation on the entire world you are completely insane.

The US has played the hand. We are going in no matter who agrees or doesn't. Now what are the others gonna do? NOTHING. They can't. Think about it people. Is Iran gonna dump one of it's fake nukes on Israel? LOL. Gimme a break. You "WWIII" folks are so gullible.

I think it's just a bunch of saber rattling and the USA will not bomb Syria. It makes no strategic sense. There is absolutely nothing to gain and a lot to lose. LET THE PLAYERS IN THE REGION TAKE CARE OF IT THEMSELVES.

Does anyone know what the USA's vital interests in this region really are? I sure can not see it. At one time the whole oil aspect was important but that is not the case any longer. This region has been a never ending source of war and instability since the allies took it over after WW1. The two former colonial players, France and the UK pretty much lost their influence after WW2 and have been more than happy to see the USA get innumerable black eyes since the US has picked up that colonial mantle. I really believe the USA and Canada should just wash our hands of the whole region and let them do whatever they will do. It really does not effect us. It could have a big effect on the Europeans. Let them take care of their own freakin interests for once and the USA should just STOP pulling their chestnuts out of the fire for them.

If he goes into Syria, some left wing nut job that voted for him because of Bush's warmongering, is going to feel betrayed and assassinate the fool.
