Forget the fact? That is a major fact. They were able to afford the product because of their improved salaries.
And as I mentioned , not every company has that luxury. my lower end employees could probably afford my product, but they would have no use for it as it is an acessary for a $300,000 + home.
This is Capitalism, not the Oligarchy and Voodoo Trickle Down Economics that the right wing advocates for defends and desires to repeat.
I am not sure what your point is...a lot of companies DO things like this. Reporting stories about decent companies simply doesn't make a good headline in the nightly news.
Trickle down doesn't work when you refer to everyone getting the Bush Tax Cuts as "job creators". Ford was obviously a job creator, but little good the jobs would have been for the overall economy if the working class could not afford to purchase what he was selling.
I'm happy to discuss things with people but it's difficult or really a waste of time with people who are only interested in partisan jabs.
Quote:
Wages here stagnate while CEO's take profits that are at astronomical levels....
I explained this and stated what the solution was but did you comment on that? No, you simply restated your same old tired wornout partisan arguments.

Okay, I get it. You were waiting for an opportunity to state the above. No, I wasted my time on responding to you. The OP was not partisan, but the problem is. I can point out a few things that I stated that you ignored, but what is the point. Your goal was to get to this point.
The article notes that he did this to stop turnover. Business does not have a turn over problem today. It's amazing how people can read an article and get something out of it that isn't even there or post an article and make unrelated rants.
That's the unavoidable result of our public education system. Academic rigor and critical thinking have been eschewed in favor of social engineering.

When looking at a person like old Henry it would also behoove anyone to do a more thorough study of his beliefs and behaviours rather than subscribe a moral code to the man that he demonstrably DID NOT HAVE!
A rabid anti semite who had a monthly paper published repeatedly extolling the evils of all Jews. A rabid racist. A rabid Marxist. A man not above being among a group of important people who thought Hitler was on the right track. A man who overlooked his Ford Werkes factories in Germany being staffed with "slave labour" from occupied countries in early war days. A man who thought FDR was working towards getting the U.S. involved in a war that wasn't America's business while those slave-staffed factories were turning profits.
He very reluctantly joined with the war effort only after it became clear no other course was practical for him. He then turned his efforts to ingratiating himself with the government to garner as many and profitable contracts as he could amass.
If he doubled wages for any other reason than self interest and reward, it would be very surprising indeed.
Yes, I believe you do but you refuse to do anytihng about it.
