(Ooops! that should be 31 years, not 130)

Yes, the plan is working. Food stamp participation has doubled (in just 4 years), while labor-force participation is at the lowest rate since 1981. 1980-81 ...Carter's legacy.

...the labor-force participation rate, or the percentage of Americans who either have a job or are looking for one, has plunged to 63.5 percent — the lowest since September 1981. A total of 368,000 people gave up looking for work in August. Only 96,000 jobs were created. FORWARD

Don't any of the Obamanuts have something to say about this success? He has a plan, same as the old plan.

Some accomplishments of labor unions. Besides beating back Kasich's attacks on working people, I mean.

I know that you all may miss this but. The Boomers are retiring at a fast rate. More and more are becoming SS eligable and the ones that still have pensions are opting out of the work force. $401K's are in good shape and you can lock into more secure funds with less up or down side.

This is one of the factors of the stopped looking for work.

I've commented on that extensively on numerous threads.

You're short ....4,411,000 jobs.

Without those jobs, you cannot possibly have any chance of paying for Medicare or Social Security.

I had repeatedly said that a Labor Force Participation Rate of greater than 66.5% was absolutely necessary to fund Medicare and Social Security, but that was based on a rather steady decline in wages.

Wages are declining much faster than I anticipated, so the minimum Labor Force Participation Rate may need to be 66.7%, perhaps even 67+% in order to fund Medicare and Social Security.

In the short-term, those missing 4,411,000 jobs and the fact that the Labor Participation Rate is less than 66.5% is the reason why Medicare will collapse in 2018 -- just 6 years from now...almost exactly (sometime in the 3rd/4th Quarter of 2012 --- calendar year not fiscal year).

It's also the reason why Social Security will collapse 2023-2025. Seeing how things are worse than I anticipated it will be closer to 2023 than 2025.

Since Democrats don't have a plan, I guess they'll just continue living in a fantasy world until they get a wake-up call when Medicare collapses.

Participating...

Yes, the plan is working.
What plan might that be?

If the fear is that you don't want to destroy America and have it turned into a socialist country, you should take a cue from FDR because as the experiences of Louis XVI and Nicholas II will attest and every New Deal Democrat knows, the quickest path to a revolution is a starving population.

What about the 3.4M college grads? Where do they go besides their bedrooms and a bar?

My reference was sarcasm.

I'll address your statement:

I'd say that since both parties have been equally complicit in their dealings with the WTO, United Nations, WMF, and ECB; we can blame them equally if/when a revolt happens. Maybe that's what it'll take to bring us together and lift us out of this malaise that we've been in. A reset of unsustainable economies that have been built only to enrich a select few, on the backs of middle class slaves.

The United States has become a Federal Oligarchy, with people not bothering to act united. If people cry racism enough; if the motivated self-reliant are abused enough; if people push hard enough to fulfill their petty greed (providing nothing in return), maybe those people deserve nothing at all.

The strong tend to survive revolts, while those who had constantly bled and abused the system, those who had controlled the system, or believed they were above the system - tend to be the first removed from the system.
