A Chicago advocacy group says that the restaurant Chick-fil-A has promised to back away from funding socially conservative groups that have pressed to limit marriage to one man and one woman.
The apparent decision by the chain's WinShape Foundation would mark a retreat from the summer's culture war pitting advocates of marriage equality against conservative claims that the chain was under assault for simple free speech. The comments came, the group The Civil Rights Agenda said, in correspondence with a Chicago alderman who had opposed the chain's expansion to the city.
Chick-Fil-A Promises Not To Fund "Anti-Gay Groups," Advocates Claim

So one day of bigots buying sandwiches didn't make up for the boycott?

Dan Cathy is a bigot no matter what the decision is.
We were all made to fully understand the extent of his disdain for certain groups of the population.

This decision is an extremely smart business move on behalf of this company but that's all it is, a business move.
I highly doubt there has been an epiphany by Dan Cathy that members of the GLBT community are in fact human beings worthy of the same rights as everyone else.

I grew up in the Assembly of God church so I speak of experience about fundamentalist " Christianity " and it's hatred towards others that do not believe as they do.

In this day and age of rapid advancement of GLBT rights you will also have the American Taliban wishing to suppress and remove the voices of those that do not agree with their agenda.

Well that's a damned shame and highly disappointing. Here I thought there might be hope for corporate America. The love of money, etc ....

WHile I'd like to be hopeful, I would prefer to wait for official confirmation.

If CFA truly has backed off of funding hate groups, then the boycott has won.

Disappointing that they are backing off from funding lying, fraudulent hate groups who demonize an entire subset of humanity?

Yeah, that's the Christian attitude

I wish you people would stop pretending to be Christian. You don't follow Jesus, so why make the claim you do?

I have a close friend that is in a position to see the financials for several franchise owners in the southwest. According to him, year over year same store sales are down in excess of 20%. One day of purchases by hateful bigots can't possibly make up for an indefinite period of lost sales from an unknown number of people that have chosen to boycott.

There are rumors that some of the franchise owners are considering a class action lawsuit against the parent company and Mr. Cathy to recover some of the lost value of their investments.

Oh they follow Jesus. Just so long as there isn't an NFL game on that morning that conflicts with their devout worship of the son of God. Or anything else that inconveniences their lives in any way.

As someone above said, Chick-fil-A made a business move, their underlying beliefs are still abundantly clear.

Looks like the anti-gay movement just took another one on the chin.
