Another state Republican has been found to not only defend slavery, but call President Abraham Lincoln a Marxist.
After state Rep. Jon Hubbard was found defending slavery and ridiculing African-Americans in his memoir, the Arkansas Times has uncovered more pro-slavery rhetoric from another state representative. In letters sent to the Democrat-Gazette, state Rep. Loy Mauch uses the Bible to defend slavery, putting him in a long line of questionable Republican officials.
"If slavery were so God-awful, why didn't Jesus or Paul condemn it, why was it in the Constitution and why wasn't there a war before 1861? The South has always stood by the Constitution and limited government. When one attacks the Confederate Battle Flag, he is certainly denouncing these principles of government as well as Christianity."
You could use the bible to justify slavery just as you can use it to justify not giving homosexuals equal rights.
But you'd be wrong to follow a fairy tale book like that.
As far as Lincoln. He suspended habeas corpus, ignored direct rulings from the supreme court, nationalized massive private sector industries, etc, etc, etc.
Well at least he didn't call Lincoln a Muslim...yet.
Lincoln had a beard.
Muslims have beards.
Lincoln was a Muslim.
