I found out yesterday that the City of Winston Salem will put up markers to Honor the Black Panthers. I just wondered what other Citizens thought about this. I wrote a letter to the Mayor and the Council Member for that area and told them it was appalling, that by doing this they just excused them for their actions.
Will the City now Honor the KKK and all the other Gangs that want recognition, do they want us to now go back to those days?? Am I the only one that finds this disturbing???
Was this moved from the Winston-Salem forum? It is a local issue and should be discussed locally, IMHO, as a North Carolinian.
Charlotte just hosted Farrakhan and his followers . . . and I have been too disgusted to even research what involvement our city leaders had in all that . . . we will never hear the truth, anyway.

well, if it wasn't for the treatment my parents and grandparents had to deal with back in the day, the black panthers wouldn't have been needed, but seeing as how whites thought blacks were inferior and treated them like animals it was good that group was founded. Instead of being pissed at the mayor, how about you write a letter to all the grandma's and grandpa's bitching at them for treating minorities like ****.

All people were not treated the same, and I don't care who you are. By doing this it seems to be going back to those days and that's something nobody wants.

In other words, you'd rather not think about the past.

i think the people who benefited from the black panthers say otherwise. If it wasn't for groups like the black panthers, who knows how much more minorities would have suffered.
