So they were supposed to have one of the liberal cable news channels on?
Apparently so.
I choose my cat's veterinarian based on their competency, service, and rapport with the cat.
It never occurred to me to pay attention to what was on the television.
My cat doesn't care what is being shown either - she is generally apolitical - but likely leans Republican. She likes the free market that keeps the supply of canned tuna running along smoothly. She would probally have a problem with the Democrats who want to regulate everything
No, never happened to me, but I mostly agree with you. She is young and just needs to be told about proper behavior. She might not be stupid. I would certainly give her a second chance.
Thanks, and yes stupid is probably too harsh a word. Inexperienced would probably be more appropriate.
I quit taking my dogs to a veterinarian that had Fox News blaring nonstop in the waiting room. The time that I had to wait so they could finish a procedure while being assaulted by the paranoid rantings of Glenn Beck was the final straw.
Why not simply ask if they could please change the TV to the Weather Channel, or something else reasonably benign?
Went to the dentist today. There is a TV in the room. I have it on CNN, and the hygienist (new) says "please don't tell me you are going to vote for Obama", incredulously. I have never met this person before in my life. This is the person who is going to be working on my mouth in a few minutes.
I just looked at her. I was so taken aback I did not know how to respond. I did not want to **** her off before she finished with my mouth. After I got my crown, I told the Dentist, who I have known for a long time, but have no idea what his party affiliation is, nor do I care. I told him it was inappropriate. He agreed and said it was unacceptable and that he would terminate her if I thought that was right thing to do.
Of course, I did not want her to be terminated. She was young and stupid. I just asked for a new hygienist the next time. My whole family uses this dentist. He probably has made about 10K off of us this year alone.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
My dentist (who just retired a couple weeks ago) and his staff like to talk politics, though I think it's inappropriate. That said, I have engaged in some of these conversations when they have brought it up. I remember one time when the hygienist and I were alone in the room, she brought up politics and said, "I'm the only Democrat in this office". I then told her I was the only one I knew of in my office as well. In my own work in a pediatric office, the patient (or more likely parent) could say, "I think Obama should be impeached" and I probably would just say, "Do you have any questions about the immunizations we're doing today" or some such.
Talking to the dentist, who is her supervisor, was appropriate. Tell him you think she shouild be counseled, not fired. She should be told not to talk politics with patients if she hasn't figured that out yet.

She will not be my hygienist the next time I go in. I will get my old hygienist back. I am quite certain that the Dentist will say something to her. I don't worry about getting bad service. I can always go to a different dentist if I did; however, the Dentist and I have the same last name. She made the connection right away and she still behaved stupidly. I made sure that she did not get fired. She will be fine. Hopefully, she will learn her lesson.
She could also be sitting at lunch with the other hygienist and say something like, "That guy is such a [insert derogatory term]."
Regardless, I still don't think it was worth mentioning.
