Think about it 41* states already have laws about same sex Marrige (Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Iowa, and Washington for, 33 agianst) So if DOMA is repealed it only effects 9 states SSM laws.

*Rhode Island reconizes SSMs preformed outside the state, but only allows civil unions.

I do believe that federal marriage benefits are still denied to ssm.

DOMA will probably get struck down. Eventually most of the anti-gay marriage amendments will get overturned or voters will simply reverse them and allow gay marriage.

While I am considered a HWM with children, grounded in traditional family and my belief in God... I think the states should be in control of defining marriage law, not the federal government. Couples in legal relationships should be able to combine incomes for tax purposes, and that's it.

Libertarians are funny about wanting smaller government that way.

Note: It does say a lot about the condition of a society when it must pass laws to protect the sanctity of marriage. Every time marriage takes this course, when civilizations become obsessed with their own perversions, they tend to wither and die. Look at Rome.

It absolutely does matter to the 100,000+ married, same-sex couples in this country, as well as for any of us who believe that the federal government should recognize all marriages that are performed legally.

Yes, it does matter. Congress does not have the authority to change the US Constitution via statute law. DOMA violates the Full Faith & Credit Clause of the US Constitution. All public acts by States, which includes marriage, must be recognized by all other States.
"Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof." --- Article IV, Section 1, Clause 1 of the US Constitution.
That does not mean other States that prohibit same sex marriage must allow same sex marriage. It only means that if a State does allow same sex marriage it must be recognized as a legal marriage in every other State.

Rome fell AFTER it converted to Christianity and become more conservative I'm not saying it was Christianity that culled Rome, but it CLEARLY had nothing to do with the so called sanctity of marriage.

Restricting individual freedom always matters.

If you know History you would know Romes power was fading so people went to the Church BECAUSE Rome was falling apart not vise-versa.
