A few reporters have stepped up, of course. Eli Lake at Newsweek has done a bang-up job, CNN has stuck with the story all week, Tapper had a solid report last night about who knew what and when. But perhaps we’re asking too much from the media generally; there are, after all, Romney gaffes to be covered. And if there’s one thing that America wants and needs from its media right now, it’s more navel-gazing horse-race election dreck.

Not Kirsten Powers, though. Good lord, I think she’s gone rogue:
There are so many unanswered questions, not just about Libya, but also about Cairo. Who is it that Rice thinks “widely disseminated” this “movie”? Surely she can’t believe that the Egyptian Coptic Christian who made the video had the capacity or even desire to put it in the hands of the people who did the inciting. Also, has the administration noticed that the mob in Cairo, so spontaneously upset about the video, just happened to be carrying an Islamist flag to hoist over our embassy? On 9/11. What a massive coincidence.

Also, where did Rice get her very detailed information about the attack in Libya? She referred to the attackers as “a small handful of heavily armed mobsters” who merely took advantage of a growing protest over the video, a protest that now appears never to have occurred, as was reported three days before her appearances. The administration is careful to point out that Rice couched everything she said as being the best assessment at the time. Fine. But where did that assessment come from and how could it have been so wrong, especially when all signs pointed to a terrorist attack?

We know now that before the attacks on 9/11 that killed 3,000 Americans, more attention should have been paid to attacks against the U.S. overseas. These were warnings of what was to come. They say curiosity killed the cat. In this case, lack of curiosity on the part of the American media very well may kill more Americans.

In 2008 Kirsten Powers was a regular on the Fox shows, she initially was a Hilary supporter, but once 0bama won the primary, she was an unflappable, flag waving, Kool-aid drinking, 0bama supporter. All that started to change around the first part of 2011, when she started noticing the trend toward incompetence, and the failure by 0bama to live up to the hype, from his lofty promises and glorious predictions.

Now she is still a democrat, but her Kool-aid drinking days have come to an end. Listening to her now, you'd almost swear she was a Republican, but her liberal side is still there, she just sees 0bama for what he is, and cuts him no slack.

To Kirsten's comments, it was not just the Cairo embassy where that black flag was conveniently in someone's pocket during the riots, but that black flag has been hoisted up all over the place. Does our state department think pockets in the Mid East are commonly filled with that flag?

Rice said she could not comment on whether or not the attack in Libya was a terrorist attack, because our intelligence community did not have enough information about it, and yet she does claim to have enough information to tell us what did motivate them, and it was the movie, the movie, the movie.

How, and where did Rice get the information for what motivated the mob that attacked our consulate in Libya? If she got it from the mob, she would have been talking to the terrorists. If she got it from people who witnessed the attack, they would have know it was a well armed military-styled attack, using anti-aircraft guns, mortars, grenades, RPGs, automatic weapons, etc...

If Rice did not have enough intel to know the attackers were terrorists, then she also did not have enough info to publicly declare anything else about them either.

I'm not a conspiracy minded person, but it almost seems that since our government knew about the coming protests on 9/11, that they were going to allow them to occur, and blame them on the movie. I think they assumed that these protests were going to be fairly peaceful, but boisterous, and they were ready to decry the movie as being the cause.

This explains the immediate posting of the apology about the movie by the Cairo Embassy, even before the protest mob arrived. It also might explain why the clung so long to their talking points that is was the movie. Also, if they planned this whole charade, then they would have also know who the person was behind this movie, weeks in advance. BTW, our government claims to have not known who was behind the attacks for a,most two weeks, but they found the person behind the movie in mere days.

I'm not tied to this theory, because in order for it to stick, I'd have to believe that this administration was willing to play politics with our national security. As much as i do not like this president and his clowns, I am having a tough time believing they would do this.

I've noticed lately that Powers seems to be exhibiting better judgement in her comments. She will however, push that liberal line from time to time.

But yeah, hopefully she's got that kool-aid purged by now.

Notice that while SHE may have finally caught the memo that Obama sucks, Liberals here on C-D won't comment or agree with her.

Any fools knows that when the media becomes a propaganda wing for a political goal, trouble has already started. Witness all of the totalitarian regimes of the 20th century. In all cases, the media was complicent with the activities of the government and failed the citizens. That is certainly true of the liberal media today, which has foolishly aided in leading the nation down the path of totalitarianism, all the while believing the they are "enlightened" and "doing the right thing".

I guess the press does not know that the truth will hold up to scrutiny- lies will not. Thus the need of the media to cover for Obama. All tyrants need a loyal "lap dog" in the media.

The media has it's two gods involved in this "Arab Spring" -- Hillary and Obama and it is not going to look critically at what is going on in the Middle East. Plus there is an election coming up and all the media can do is promote it's candidate.

she is a smart gal. even when she was supporting Obama her arguments were that he was saying all the right things, and McCain was a lousy candidate, even i did not care for him, and still don't.

That is because they think they owe 0bama something, so they refuse to speak up and recognize his failures. It's like, if they admit 0bama has presided over a poor economy, then that is some how a poor reflection on them as well. The 0bama supporters cannot admit that 48 million people on food stamps, a 1.3% GDP growth, 45 months with over 8% unemployment are all terrible statistics for our nation, because if they do admit that, then somehow they think it means that too are failures.

I notice that the Obama camp is still not getting tough questions on this. I have yet to see one question to them about the growing threat intel people knew there was in Libya, yet we had lax security anyways and did nothing to deal with the threat. Then they come out an act shocked that it happened and blamed it on a movie for a week.
