Boeing announces defense division restructuring
Boeing Co announced a major restructuring of its defense division on Wednesday that will cut 30 percent of management jobs from 2010 levels, close facilities in California and consolidate several business units to cut costs.
.....
Boeing said the changes were not a response to the threat of additional, across-the-board U.S. budget cuts due to take effect on January 2, or the outcome of U.S. elections, but represented another step in its continuing drive to "be more competitive while investing in technologies and people."

Well, I'm sure the timing of announcement is JUST a coincidence and others will RUSH into CA to fill the void.....

Boeing knows it will lose too much under Obama. Might as well cut and run.

Just reading over on the CA forum where major tax increases were passed in that state. Add in the cost of Obamacare and any future Federal increases Californians will be paying about a 60% tax rate on wages.

I left six years ago. I'm now enjoying life in a state that doesn't require me to pay any income tax. We're planning on moving in a couple of years to either TX, WY or possibly TN - all of which also don't require residents to pay income tax.

I hope they stay in California and don't come to Florida. I am beyond sick of the liberals moving to my state and forcing their views and opinions down our throats. Look at the liberal states! They are all high taxes, filled with crime and regulation.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO FLORIDA.

When the taxes get too high they need fresh stomping grounds so they can start all over again.

Austin just passed a boatload of new bond issues. One poster over there said he felt like he was living back in California.

Interestingly though..the one bond proposal that did not pass was to create more low income housing.
Parks, green belt land, roads, etc...Austin is borrowing to build.

hahahahaha!! I'm a mechanical engineer and I just moved out of California to the midwest for a better paying job closer to my family and in a cheaper area. And to think I once dreamed of working for Boeing someday in Long Beach?

Boeing is a smart company. They've been slowly moving out of CA and settling in Texas, S Carolina and Missouri for several years now. The once-vibrant CA aerospace industry is done. Industrial capital is leaving the blue states, liberalism you FAIL!

Boeing is in business to make money. Anyone who believes budget cuts aren't the reason, they're seriously delusional. That and unions.
