Peggy Noonan wrote in today's Wall Street Journal (Nov 10):
"Republican political operative class at work:in charge, supremely confident, essentially clueless".
"The election was in part a rejection of Republicanism as it is perceived by a sizeable swath of the voting public".
"But do all the party's problems come down to indadeqate marketing, faulty messaging, poor candidates? Might some of it be policies, stands, attitudes?
Translation: The religious and social zealots that nominate candidates are too fringe to win statewide and national elections because they do not represent the broad middle of the U.S. Romney actually received less votes than McCain.
