Maybe they are like me and want to see the number of deer thinned down. I don't think I would enjoy one part of the deer hunt but I know killing one of them with a gun would not be fun. I know very well that killing them with a car is not fun for anybody but the body man.

Yeah, just think, if we could slow a bullet down to 55 miles per hour and put a set of headlights on it, we could really thin out the deer population!

Those are one time expenses, and if you bag three deer or more it adds to the savings.

I calculate it as I have to have 2 deer at 125 lbs dressed to break even with the cost of the license. But I usually get three or more.

Can those who worry about those who hunt tell us why they even worry about it? Sheeesh...what a dumb question.

I hunt deer because I like deer meat. Same with Elk. I dont hunt from a stand, I pack into the backcountry on horse back. And yea, I enjoy it. Why? Why do I have to justify myself? It's just part of who I am and my reasons are my own.

Everybody's situation is different.

If you don't have to to lease the property you are way ahead.

When black Powder came out it went through several advancement before we got the modern in lines we now have. ( have 4 of them). Even a black powder pistol.

Same with a bow. My first was a re curve, then a compound, then "better" compound, then the crossbow, wow was the first one ever heavy, then a lighter more modern one.

many hunters "upgrade" to keep up with newer modern weapons, bullets, arrows, broad heads etc.

Many have hunting cabins that takes money to "improve" upon.

We started building our own tree stands then went to manufactured ladder stands, pop up ground blinds etc.

Clothes have gone through many, many advancements.

When I first started no one heard of camouflage clothing much less scent free clothing.

None of this takes in the cost to go away for 10 days. The cost for food, drink etc. can get pretty steep.

There are ALWAYS new things you can by to "improve " your hunting experience.

I have always said to people who want me to give the free venison that the price per pound isn't cheap.

The few time my wife complained I reminder her that I didn't fish anymore and if I started you have to buy that $30,00 boat first. The price per pond is way more then hunting. She usually dropped the subject for quite a while.

The truth of the matter is that humans evolved to enjoy hunting, that is why people enjoy it. It is part of our DNA and I find nothing wrong with it as long as it is not an endangered anmimal and it is for the purpose of eating. Thats coming from a card carrying dem.

My gues is why some enjoy alot of thingstoehr don't fro sky diving ;to bird wqatching 'casmpig i cold;riding sleds i the winter time. Mna is a natural hunter and mnay love the outdoors. At least ehre in Texas araes as l;arge as most states are kepp for gam ebecause hunter lease and support ehm all year around. The taxes paid even before H huntig tiems get to stores support he habatat and pay mnay who work to be sure mankind doesn't leave no room for agme animals.I guess the same questio could be asked of any sport that the asker does like or understand. In texas at elast hunters put their money where their mouth is a pay for most of the care for game aniamals and the area they need presenrved for tehm to survive. They alos make poosible lands that would be sold off like if they didn't.
