I believe that Syria is trying an age old tactic. When there's unrest internally, create war with neighbors to try to deflect the hatred of the people onto the warring neighbors. Notice when public uprising started, that's when Syria began attacking Turkey and Israel. All we need to do is provide support for our allies through our NATO agreement and hold back troops from the conflict. Turkey and Israel can each deal with Syria individually. They don't need help from us. But this is a good time for diplomacy and cement or strengthen our ties with our allies in the region.

Its time the federal government learned from all its previous foreign policy failures and stayed out of it.

No. Israel and Turkey will handle it, we'll support our allies with technology and arms covertly, I hope.
If we supply munitions, these should be marked made in china, so they're not traceable back to America.

I do not believe Turkey or israel have any intention of getting too involved other than return fire when fired upon.

I think we're doing more than giving the "rebels" humanitarian aid.

Considering the fact that Syria's current government has been a sworn friend of our enemy (Iran), then would it make sense to take that advantage away from Iran and make Syria our friend?

Only if the people of Syria remove the current government on their own.

If they do it without our help, then why should they become our friend, and not the friend of Russia, or China or whoever panders to them the most?
