The cost of mailing a first-class letter will go up by a penny in January. The Postal Regulatory Commission today approved the proposed rate increase, which raises the price of a first-class domestic stamp to 46 cents. The price of a postcard will increase from 32 cents to 33 cents, while a new global "forever" stamp will allow customers to mail letters anywhere in the world for one set price of $1.10.

Can they file bankruptcy, dump the unions, and hire a new workforce of 29-hr/week workers?

So you buy the forever stamps.
Geez.

Try looking at postage costs in other countries.

Thanks for the heads up! I will be buying some forever stamps soon, even if I don't need them. I usually buy the roll of 100.

Again thanks for your informative post!

Are people really freaking over a penny? That's still dirt cheap for what you get. It should be higher quite honestly especially with people sending very little letter sized parcel these days.

Instead of the all seeing Eye you can have the Queen England looking at you on the back of every Bill and just be glad it prince Charles does not want to be King since then our money would be pretty spooky to have his mug in 3D hologram.

I've always looked at it as a screaming deal;
they pick it up at yer house and bring it
anywhere you want for a few cents.
I also wanna mention that I've either
been really lucky or the USPS is
actually pretty damn efficient. I mail
a lotta stuff and it always gets there.

About 83 cents in the UK for UK mainland deliveries.

The UK land mass is about the size of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

I wish they'd just raise the price 10 cents and then be good for a decade.
