Israel is occupying Palestinian land. Would you, as an American, stand to be occupied by another country, your borders controlled by the other country, your air space, your ability or right to go to a hospital, to leave your city?

I understand your frustration with Gazans civilians being killed by the IDF. But you must understand outside the box what's happening. The first point to truly understand that their is no Israeli occupation of the strip. The Strip is under full Palestinian Authority and Hamas control. Their are no Israeli garrisons is Gaza and for that matter, no Jews. Arab leadership is responsible for its people as Israeli leadership is for there's. Hamas a world known terrorist organization, has an Islamists agenda which is not co-insync with an independent Palestinian country. Together really with the PA, they know they make billions of dollars in aid off the blood of their people from world aid, and by perpetuating the anti colonist theology will gain sympathy from the world. If a state would be created tomorrow, how would Hamas and the PA pocket it's billion dollars in aid? And more ironically, how to destroy Israel?
The anti colonist movement by Hamas is just in their head, creating this optical illusion of freedom fighting for Allah, when simply Israel has aided financially and politically to Palestinian statecraft. With this operation, Hamas chose to escalate its rocket attacks prior to the Israeli boys murders they chose to reject the Egyptian mediator and continued to fire projectiles at Israeli civilians, and even to the extent of sending operatives through beaches and tunnels after an Israeli accepted cease fire? You must learn that the west does not care about Gaza, it is only mentioned because of Arab oil. The Arabs don't care about Palestine but use it to promote their anti Israel Islamist agenda, and Israel just wants to be left alone and even help the Gazans civilians. But no, we complain about the innocent civilians who are being used by a terrorist group, dying for the terrorist group in perfect placement so they can enjoy some more western money in their cozy Gazans estates, eating the finest hummus while Israel flips the bill for water and construction infrastructure for their own people!
If you want to discuss real occupation.. Research the Egyptian occupation of Gaza decades ago and see how fast their Arab brothers created this so called Palestinian state. And while your at it, learn about the first hand accounts of living conditions under the Arab leadership as opposed to Israel's. Israeli tax money is supporting the Gazans people yet we want to point the finger and destroy them!? Shame on you for perpetuating this backwards Islamists ideology which does not care if you did tomorrow.
I have been watching for the past several weeks as the "Palestinians" continued attacks on Israel and Israel prepared to move against them. While I know that a nation attacked must stop those attacks I also wonder if Israel will use this as an opportunity to take back more of their homeland, in this case the Gaza strip.
Israel does not Gaza back. Israel would have preferred that it stayed with Egypt after the Treaty was signed, but they didn't want it either.

Do you really think this was a surprise? The UN has been turning a blind eye to what Palestinians do with the money they supply and the schools they built.

If they got gunpowder first they would have done that very thing. You go shoot arrows all you want and scream and cry about the poor indians. They would have cut your throat if they had the chance back in the day. Something you squealers will never understand.
Of course the Israelis know where the rockets are coming from. The problem is that when Israel wipes out the rockets they know about, even more are smuggled into Palestine from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran and Egypt. The only way for Israel to stop the smuggling of rockets and other weapons into Palestine is to wage war against Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran and Egypt. As long as the Arab League continues to sponsor international terrorism, their proxy war with Israel will continue. The good news is that Iraq is no longer participating in the war against Israel as they did before Saddam and his Baath Party was removed from power, thanks to Bush and our allies.
Your are on spot. Proxy war is what it is as nobody wants to just stand up and say hey we're going. Just get it on and be done with it. Israel would whup em all like they did before though so they play these games shooting off rockets to kill folks then whine to the media that they are the victims and the media yucks it all up. Sad.
