How dare this white woman run for Jesse Jackson's seat? Doesn't she know this is a Black seat?
To heck with letting the people decide who is the best candidate to represent them, the overriding qualification is the representative of this district must be Black.

Black leaders are growing increasingly worried that a white candidate might seize the seat of former Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. in the upcoming Illinois special election.
With a host of black candidates announcing their intention to seek the seat, the concern is that they could split the African-American vote and provide a plurality to a white contender. The worries escalated this week after former Rep. Debbie Halvorson, a white Democrat and veteran of suburban Chicago politics, threw her hat into the ring.
Halvorson, black leaders say, presents a particular threat. The former congresswoman, who served two years in the House and spent 15 years in local and state office, fell short in her primary bid early this year against Jackson, but she won majorities of the vote in Will and Kankakee counties — suburban, mostly white areas that comprise two of the district’s three counties. Some black officials have met Halvorson’s entry into the race with outright hostility. Kwame Raoul, a Democratic state senator who has been vocal about his concern that a white candidate could win the seat, said the former congresswoman is exploiting an opportunity she saw in the emerging crowded field of black candidates.

Where were they when Allan West lost his seat in Florida to a white person?

The people will still have an opportunity to vote for the best candidate. No where in this article did it say they are preventing a white candidate from running for the seat.
I knew a circus act would take place before Junior was re-elected. Also, I expected there to be racial animosity in Chicago, I mean, it is Chicago and they are known to be racially polarized. I just thought it hilarious that Junior decided to be bi-polar and play the part in order to try to not go to jail for campaign finance fraud. This whole scenario is pretty funny even though it is disturbing, but this sort of thing is not surprising in regards to the racial focus. Black people in Chicago are very mistrustful in general about whites, it is what it is and even though I do think the mistrust was well earned, I do think they (and white Chicagoans) need to start moving past all the racial mumbo jumbo. Racial polarization is one of the main reasons why I have held off on moving to Chicago as I just don't feel like dealing with all that.
I am not sure of how they will replace Junior as I haven't looked into it all that much but I actually doubt the black vote will split for black candidates, especially since a white person is running now. They will all come together with a specific black candidate and that person will win. Something similar happened here in Atlanta in our last mayoral race. We had a white woman run and a few black people. The white woman won the primary but not enough to negate a run off and after the run off was underway most black people voted for the black man and he's our mayor today.
Well here's another guy throwing his hat in the ring and he's Black.
He has the perfect background and history to represent these people who voted Jackson back into office.
