Where does it "respecting" religious beliefs end? If a section of Christians decide that the "Mark of Cain" literally means Black people, do we need to respect their right to discriminate?

If a "Christian" employer decides they want to exclude gays & single mothers b/c that's against their religious beliefs, are we okaying that?

I rarely like to bring up slippery slope arguments, but it seems like no one sees the flood gates the Lunatic Right has created by opposing ACA on religious grounds.

Or maybe this will drive the point home for the Lunatic Conservatives: if we allow challenges to Federal law based on religious freedom, we've just created an opening for the very same Shariah Law you're terrified of...

These idiots pushing theocracy in governance forget that separation of religion and government is not a premise based on one-way traffic that goes in the direction they want to.

It's a tricky situation. On the one hand, Americans generally don't want to see discrimination. That said, we have freedom of association as well as deeply held religious beliefs. It seems questionable to force one group to adopt the belief system of another group that they fundamentally disagree with.

Most of the press about this has been about the Catholic church. What I would find more interesting is if Muslim organizations were forced by the government to accept gays and provide sex-related services.

What would be even more interesting is if Muslim groups started demanding that the gov't recognize Shariah Law b/c of the flood gates these religious loons have opened.

I can't stand the short-sightedness of their thinking, or the guaranteed hypocrisy that's coming down the tubes when other religions start demanding the same "respect" to their beliefs.
