The first amendment does not protect you from disciplinary action by your employer for on the job conduct.

Especially if you've been warned about posting political material at work -- twice.

Having said that, I don't think the guy deserved to get fired. If stupidity were a bar to employment, half the companies (and 3/4 of the gubmint offices) in America would be empty overnight.

I am conservative and think he was warned and then fired as policy proably is written.

I think it is likely that he would have gotten canned for putting in toilet paper with anyone's face on it.

That being said, I wonder about his mental age and his fitness to be a firefighter. This sounds like something a 14 year old would do.

We can only hope it would be enforced no matter what politician was on the toilet paper.

I thought it was funny...I'm sure people used Bush toilet paper...

However, at work-not so funny.

Work and religion don't mix
Work and politics don't mix
Work and sex don't mix but I seem to be in the minority.

Plus he was warned....duh!

Well should it protect you? Imagine instead that this firefighter was installing toilet paper with images of "swastikas" or of "dead fetuses" if he was against abortions?

I understand that people do discuss politics at work but when you make a effort to be offensive and being warned afterwards you have to wonder about this guy's psyche.
