It's funny how you want blame the Democrats for the economy yet fail to mention anything about greedy banks and mortgage companies that created the biggest real estate bubble in American history and then peddled mortgage backed securities and credit default swap on unsuspecting investors that in they in their own words knew were "Sh*t", thus creating the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression and endangering the entire global financial system. All while George W. Bush Jr. was calling for an "Ownership Society" and a "Hand Off" approach to financial market regulation.

I heard a report on the radio last night on the way home from work that "underlying" economic factors were all looking positive, too. Wish I could remember the details.

Anyway, the recovery seems to be picking up a little steam. Still a way to go, but we're moving forward.
We're nearing the cliff, so don't hold your breath. Oh yeah, could it be the new jobs added were temporary seasonals?

Despite the people YOU may know, the SSA has said outright that their payment statistics show that folks ARE tending to retire early. There are many reasons for that but primarily they are either "health" (37%) or "premature loss of a job" (16%). As I've mention, this means that folks are retiring at a rate FASTER than they are turning 65.

Employed persons (Current Population Survey)
Persons 16 years and over in the civilian noninstitutional population who, during the reference week, (a) did any work at all (at least 1 hour) as paid employees; worked in their own business, profession, or on their own farm, or worked 15 hours or more as unpaid workers in an enterprise operated by a member of the family; and (b) all those who were not working but who had jobs or businesses from which they were temporarily absent because of vacation, illness, bad weather, childcare problems, maternity or paternity leave, labor-management dispute, job training, or other family or personal reasons, whether or not they were paid for the time off or were seeking other jobs. Each employed person is counted only once, even if he or she holds more than one job. Excluded are persons whose only activity consisted of work around their own house (painting, repairing, or own home housework) or volunteer work for religious, charitable, and other organizations.

This is Obama's economy. It's time for you folks to grow up and stop blaming Bush. And if you want a true picture into creation of the original mess, quit parroting talking points and read Reckless Endangerment by Gretchen Morgenson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning business reporter and columnist at The New York Times, and Joshua Rosner, an expert on housing finance.

You might want to go back and look at who forced banks to make loans to people unqualified under the banks rating systems. And who then created a way for those banks to sell those dangerous loans to the government so they could recapitalize and make more of them. And who, when warned that these GSEs (Fannie & Freddie) were huge and troublesome, fired back by accusing those trying to be responsible of trying to deny home ownership to people. Here, look this quote up in your favorite web browser. See who said it in 2003, and who's really to blame.
Quote:
''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''
