What is education than??

Please tell me what education is if you are not there to learn.

also, if college really was the Democratic re education system as you claim then explain Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney ?
But it's a straw man... I never argued that graduates didn't make more money. What does that have to do with anything?

As far as your second point....I have no idea what you are trying to say.

And how do you know I didn't go to college?

Because they are well-educated. Thus, they function on the basis of data and science. Not fairy tales and ignorance.

Another misconception...

This comment assumes that everybody goes to college to obtain a degree in the sciences....and furthermore, that all sciences are the same.

And even further...that a few requisite science credits for a garbage degree in a garbage field facilitates a persons understanding of data and science once they move on into the workforce and become viable, contributing citizens.

Let's ignore the fact that millions of kids enter the college world every year and have no passion or no direction for anything specific. They are just going through the motions because they are told they have to do it or they would amount to nothing. People go on into the workforce and work within societies parameters and many people don't retain any significant amount of information that they were pumped with while attending.

How many people do you know that talk to you about college and wax poetic about the "experience" of it as opposed to how fascinated they were when they learned about string theory???

No, that convo, more times than not, goes like this.

"OMG, discreet math broke me!!!"

or

"I had to drop Statistics II, but I finally got a C the third time I took it"

Higher academic institutions in NE are largely liberal leaning. And the population there (especially the elites) are disproportionately indoctrinated by these very institutions. Make no mistake though, they are are more " text book" liberal as opposed to being day-to-day life experienced liberal. They enjoy more than their fare share of seclusion, privacy and exclusivity that the rest of the country is socially unable to afford.

All this higher education mumbo jumbo is a nice lie.

Truth is, most level-headed folks know that:

1) the world is more than 7,000 years old.
2) tax cuts for billionaires don't "trickle down"
3) religious intolerance and theocracy was dismissed by this country centuries ago
4) folks of all colors are equally "American:
5) partisan media is hog ****e
6) there is more that is valuable in this world than profit
7) the free market will never work FOR people or the environment
8) televangelists don't have your best interests in mind
9) atmospheric physics is not a leftist plot
10) you can't shrink a deficit and grow and economy through tax cuts alone
11) Etc,etc,etc.

You don't need to go to college to learn this stuff, it is just common sense. Reality just has a stronger presence in New England than in the bible belt.

I don't see New England as always going left, but it is usually center-left. A sensible place to be.

Thank goodness I paid attention in school or I wouldn't know what subjectivity was...

It IS good for something, apparently...

Nah there's lots of poorly-educated, gay-hating white people in Boston who vote straight Democrat. West Virginia is also hugely white and it was Democrat right up until the last few years.

Basically whites feel comfortable voting Democrat when they enjoy a comfortable ethnic majority. Wherever you have "multiculturalism" the Democrats inevitably pander to the growing minorities, which pisses whites off because it's largely their their money and social capital being "redistributed".

I think your theory needs work. The majority of whites in L.A. and San Francisco vote for Democrats. The same is true in New York City and Chicago. These are highly multicultural cities.

If only more of the country were that way then we'd all be better off.

If this is true, how do you explain the change of heart?
