1) Abolish Gun shows. Unlicensed dealers can sell guns there without any background checks and 40% guns are bought and sold through this loophole.

2) Strict protocols for licensed dealers.

3) Any buyer must first take and pass a safety class, a psychological screening test, and have no previous misdemeanors or felonies.

4) One month waiting period before purchasing gun.

5) Ammunition cannot be purchased online. A registry is kept also for Ammunition purchase with a limit set on amount per period of time.

6) Finally, a 100% tax on guns and ammunition to pay for extra police, safety measures in schools/public places (bullet proof doors, windows, surveillance cameras, etc.), medical expenses of future victims, and any other cost that results from a shooting or to prevent a deadly shooting.

I will be submitting these suggestions to my congressman and senators.

1. Ok

2. No, gun dealers already have so many hoops to jump through. More red tape isnt an answer

3. No. Instant background check should is sufficent.

4. No

5. No. I have a good friend of mine who owns about 12 AR-15 rifles and he can make his own ammunition. Leave people alone, 99% of them are law abiding citizens.

And being law abiding citizens they need to obtain thousands of rounds of ammo over the internet.

What is your opinion of the tax?

Also, a person who suddenly goes into a fit of rage probably could not make large capacity magazines in time to act out during his fit.

1- Regulate sales.
2- Improve licensing procedures (including psychological tests prior to eligibility to buy guns)
3- Training
4- Direct accountability of both, owners and sellers.

And my friend is a "prepper". I don't want to see these liberties become increasingly restricted as a knee jerk reaction to an insane person going around and killing people.

IIRC, the second amendment includes such restrictions that come with "regulations".

Oh sorry. No nothing should be taxed 100%...and guns taxed at 100%? Lord no! Guns are very expensive now (I don't own one simply due to the cost). Don't price middle income people out of gun ownership

A "prepper" should not qualify for possession of guns. Preppers and Survivalists are delusional and paranoid.

X2
Taxing ammo will not stop a criminal nor will any or your hoops you want folks to jump threw.
It's the govts attempts to tax and limit ammo sales that drive folks to stock pile ammo.

I can have a thousand rounds, but I can still only shoot one at a time.
example a brick of 22 cal ammo is 500 rounds we buy a couple at a time.
Who wants to run to the store all the time?
Shotgun shells around 200-500 a season.
As they get more expensive I seem to buy more when they go on sale.
If the trend continues or a 100%tax is imposed I will stock pile thousands of shells to save money.

A solution would be for parents to instill morals in to their children.
it all starts at home.

Your car can run over 20 people with your car, should we tax it 100% too?

An emotional knee jerk reaction will not stop anything as you can't legislate morality nor will a law or a tax stop a criminal.
