Seems that a large part of the spike is in AR-15s like the one Lanza used.

Well, there goes the hope that assault weapon restrictions will help anything. The country will be flooded with them before it's even enacted.

Every time the bottom feeders come out and try to use a tragedy to push a new gun control proposal, the same thing happens. It did in '94 before the first "assault weapons" ban, it's happening now. Anyone that ever thought they'd like to own one someday, but didn't want to spend the money right away is going out and getting one.

Good news is that concealled carry permit apps are up as well. Spokane was reporting a record amount. Some people are stepping up and taking responsibilty for the safety of themselves and their families.

There is some good to come out of this tragedy, in terms of preventing another. We're finally starting to at least have a serious discussion of allowing teachers and administrators with carry permits to carry in schools.
