Many times on these boards, I've seen that pro-gun people like to crow that the NRA membership is at an all-time high and that people are buying guns by the truckload in the wake of the Newtown shootings. I'll set aside how sick I think that whole mentality is, but what I fail to see is how these pro-gun people are only counting new membership numbers and have no way of counting the number of net members LOST because of the NRA's heartless response to the shootings. How many thousands of people around the country today are doing exactly what this guy is doing?:

You'll never know, because these numbers can't be counted. The NRA won't even know until next year when they see that people like him are not renewing their fees.

Enough is enough already. Stand down with the pro-gun fervor. It comes off as bloodlust.

You asked your question and you answered it in the same post,

But I'm willing to bet they are gaining more members than losing members.

Whats it matter? Gun ownership is on the rise and the anti-gun agenda is going back under the rock wence it came.
Even the obama administration isnt serious about doing anything, why else would they have tasked Joe Biden to head it up ? lol

The NRA could go away entirely but the guns will remain in the hands of the people.

Maybe you should listen to the news every once in a while. The NRA is gaining many new members. My husband just walked to the post office and on his way home he encountered a man looking for the gun shop in our town. As far as we know our town doesn't have a gun shop. Do you really not realize how up in arms Americans are about this issue. Some of us believe in the constitution even if others of you do not. And yes, we love our children too and want our entire families protected. This administration is not going to protect us. They can't even get illegals out of the country.

As soon as you post 8,000 of those videos a day maybe you'll have a point. Until then you're simply building a straw man fallacy to fiercely attack.

Good luck with that...

The NRA has become nutty, like many activist groups. It has become sad watching them flail on the national stage.

For a peak at what is really happening you have to look at the secondary or private gun and parts market. It's out of control right now. 30 round Pmags that were going for 10 bucks a mag this summer are going for 5-10 times that currently.

I just saw a 100 mag case go for 6000 approx last night on an auction site.

It like that on private gun forum classifieds all across the country right now that I monitor.

That tells me that the net NRA membership is most likely up. Right now you can get a 1yr membership for 25bucks and Bass Pro will give you a 25buck gift card so its free.
