So why should the reps play ball at all then if its a forgone conclusion that we are going over the cliff and its the reps fault? Its all political anyways so why not put forth a plan with everything obama wants and watch him turn it down? The reps have little to lose if they will get blamed either way! Its all about the blame game isnt it?

If reps dont do anything we go over cliff and they are to blame.

If reps give obama everything and he agrees then the reps are as bad as the dems and the right leaves them!

So why not try to tie a right wing want ( balanced budget) to ease the pain and show that obama doesnt want a deal at all.

Who cares if a balanced budget is possible or not! Just like who cares if they make a deal or not! Does it really matter? It doesnt stop a thing in this political blame game! Its all about who is smarter in being able to blame the other side anyways. The dems have been destroying the reps on this. So reps need to throw a pill in there.
Change the perception that the reps are only for the rich and dems are not at fault at all.

Why? Because the base of Boehner's party won't even agree with Boehner's plan, so what's the odds that they'd accept Obama's proposal?

Obama was willing to accept huge spending cuts, not to mention a rise in the Social Security and the Medicare eligibility age plus he amended his income level to $400,000 from $250,000. This deal, if implemented, would have been a huge victory for Republicans, deeply damaging both programs dear to Democrats and the Democratic political brand. But it never happened. Why? Because Mr. Boehner and members of his party couldn’t bring themselves to accept even a modest rise in taxes.

After what we've seen the last few years, I certainly don't. Lots of these states have people who listen to shouting hate mongers on the radio instead of thinking for themselves. People really need to get the hatred under control and start thinking of others rather than just of themselves. Greed and more greed, me, me, me, me, me.

If you don't agree with them they call you a Communist! Yeah, right. That's getting old.

This is what the libs do not understand. This con game of "treats for votes" will not last long and will destroy the current US. Who will be hurt the most? Those who are dependent upon the "treats".

The current liberal system is one of reckless policy designed for selfish purposes to gain and maintain power. In that it is harming, and will ultimately destroy the nation, it is a detrimental ideology that in the end, helps no one, except those who gained political power along the way.

Lets look at the groups who have grasped the "third rail" of liberalism

blacks
unions
urban poor
Hispanics
single women

Are these groups better off, or worse off in the last 30 years? Liberalism is a cancer for everything and everyone it touches.

Can you back that up with anything substantive? First, there is no "Progressive Party." Progressivism is an ideology that believes that government is a tool to improve people's lives. It believes in a modern welfare state in a private-enterprise economy, where society’s winners are taxed to pay for a social safety net, so as to address the barbarism that existed before the New Deal -- where seniors and the unemployed starved.

Second, none of this is socialism. It uses taxes on the free market.

What YOU fail to understand is that the Koch brothers and other billionaires were not donating hundreds of millions of dollars to Romney because they like his face. They were expecting "treats" too. The Koch bros were expecting extension of the lowest capital gains rates in generations, which would make his donations to the campaign a bargain compared to their tax savings.

Then you have Sheldon Aldeson, who also donated millions to Romney, who wants the federal government to drop criminal charges against his casinos.

So, the difference is that Obama's "treats," like health care, go to a vast number of Americans while Romney's treats would have gone to a small elite. Heaven forbid a candidate make promises that actually help improve American's lives.

How cute to see the whiny-righties crying about Obama going on vacation while saying nothing about the Republican House going on vacation.

Your most consistent quality? is hypocrisy.
