Another question: why aren't liberals signing up? It's not to say there aren't liberals in the military, but let's really be honest here: it's solidly conservative.

The military and American exceptionalism go together hand-in-hand. Liberals have firmly rejected the notion of American exceptionalism.
That aside, Republicans have always been the more pro-military party. That doesn't mean all of their decisions have been correct, but there is in general more support of the troops from Republicans. I've known bleeding-heard liberals who have joined the military and they have become more conservative as a result.

Think of the military like a business. Running a business tends to attract more conservative types and that conservative values generally are favorable over the liberal ones.
Not only that but in order for the military to keep on going like a well-oiled machine, adhering conservative policies is a must. It took me a while to get used to it, but when I did that was when I decided to get out.

This is quite true, actually.
I was quite liberal when I joined the military, but due to going through boot camp, a personal tragedy, and 4 years of being exposed to conservative policies and minded individuals while I was in, soon I found myself shifting into the middle of the political spectrum.
That's why I'm now a Centrist (Independent/Moderate).
Last I knew, the Chosen One has just as much military service as Willard did, that is NONE.
More and more career politicians today in both parties have no military service. A generation ago that wasn't true as most of the people running this country were WWII veterans.

If we are honest, Obama got more contributions from military families than Romney did. That is the only real indication of how the military is split that we have.
The argument that the military is so conservative is based on a stereotype. We have no real data on how the military actually falls.

To be fair, we'll never know officially how the military falls because as a whole they have to stay out of political agendas.
There's a rule stating that *uniformed* military personnel are not allowed to join political rallies and be a part of protests.
Now why there are uniformed people at political speeches is beyond me - I'm unaware of how they can do that and not get in trouble.

Around 50% of the military fall within the age range of 20-30, making them millennials. Millennials are an overwhelmingly liberal demographic, so I would expect today's military to be slightly more liberal than in the past. It is still probably is much more conservative than the generation at large though, being that the military heavily promotes American exceptionalism, and that being incompatible with today's liberalism.

seriously, what is your problem ????
I have never once looked at a Conservative and thought " I disagree with his/her politics, so there for he/she is destroying America and does not believe in what America stands for", yet it seems like that is what You think of liberals.
Why is that ?
