from voting for Obama in '12 to GOP '16.

Obama won by over 4 million votes; the projected non white share in 2016 will be 2-3 points higher (it was over 2 this year, and has seen higher increases in the past few cycles). 2.5% more would add 3 million votes, a 2.5 million minimum additional edge to the Dems, even if Rubio ran as the platform drove the exodus from the GOP. That would give the Dems a 7 million edge.

Romney won white males by the same margin as RR 1984; he won evangelicals as well as either RR or the Bushes. The problem is moderates and independents abhor the platform of today's GOP.

Realistically they must be given a reason to change their minds-3.5 million times. If the GOP loses in 2016, future races will be even worse, as within 3 elections, the Latino voting block is 20 million larger.

I think their goal at this point is to pass laws to prevent 7 million lawful Democratic voters from exercising their rights. That is easier for them then trying to moderate.

Neither will occur by 2016, but it would be awesome to see progress by 2016.

The numbers for the GOP nationally are tragic. That is why no one who tries to counter such threads does so with any objective data points.

for the 2016 potus election:

nah, 2016 will be just like 2008. people will be tired of obama and a republican will get elected. remember that republicans and democrats do not decide who gets elected, independents do.

mccain didnt get elected in 08 because people didnt want another bush, and a nobody that no one ever heard of named obama got elected as they thought he could not be worse than bush. same thing will happen in 16 as no democrat will get elected because nobody will want another obama.

Where did you get the idea that moderates and independents abhor the platform of today's GOP?

If you think Obama won therefore everyone who voted for him must hate the GOP, then you need to check out something called a "hasty generalization."

If you have other evidence, then you should present it. The evidence you did present doesn't support your assertion.

I simply think that social issues need to be left out of national politics. That is the downfall. I'm registered R and absolutely do not agree on many social issues. The less informed in this country need to realize that social changes are won by states on an individual basis.

The Ds exploit the social issues on the national level.

After four more years of epic failures by Obama that will be easy to accomplish. Our electorate is ignorant. Most vote based on emotions or gut feelings rather than facts. Obama was able to cast the blame Bush spell for this latest election once again but with the shape this country will be in after four more years of his incompetence the GOP will have an easy shot at the WH once again. Anyone who believes this is a fool.

White turnout in 2012 was the lowest ever. The neocons chose a liberal Mormom as their candidate, and millions of the GOP base (southern and Midwestern whites) stayed home.

The GOP doesn't need to pander to leftist parasitic minorities, they need to put up a libertarian candidate that doesn't want to bail out banks or get involved in foreign wars.

As for the democrats, just keep throwing scraps to the black and brown masses, while promoting abortion, and you have a nice little coalition of misfits to run with.
