-In 2008 it was supposed to be the end of the American right.
-2010 liberals get absolutely handled in the greatest sweep of power in Congressional history.
-2012 the left gets a marginal victory in response to the overstepping of the right on social issues, but it's apparently the end of the right, 2 years off a decisive defeat
Liberals, maybe you should hold off just a bit on the death knells, particularly when your party has dirty laundry itself: refusal to cut government spending (both welfare and defense).
*shrug* not much difference between most dems and reps anyway so what does it really matter?
Anyway, people claiming the reps are dead are idiots considering the loss of the house to them in 2010.
Also, they were saying the dems were a dying party back in 2004. Just a bunch of the normal mindless partisan bickering.
There is a huge gap in the difference between Democrats and Republicans with regard to economic liberty and fiscal issues. I admit the debt tells the story of a past where both parties spent with no regard, but these days, the parties are pretty far apart.
The GOP was on the wrong side of history this time and will now have to adapt to changes in social issues to be electible. The Democrat's day of reckoning is coming as well.

.
I think they are still just as similar. Romney's campaign words seemed different but when they get into office its usually a whole different story. They both fall right into the middle.
Especially when the President is one affiliation and the House is another.
The worst situation financially was when the GOP owned the presidency and the House. Financial downfall and defense pending was at its absolute worst.
The right has a lot of problems. They deny global climate change and attack women, abortion and other rights. If they do not want to become the party of history they need to put out the Christian right. Its these idiots who have destroyed the party.
Don't they have some little boys to molest?
Neither political party has ever been about saving or deficit reduction, it's just lip service. The GOP has never shrunk anything and never intend to. Democrats can at least admit to it somewhat.
