Do you really wonder why you get some of the responses you do? Really? If you're going to antagonize people like you do, then you should expect responses in kind. It's obvious that you don't want any truly rational discussion on the issue - you clearly just want to tick people off.

That's all they have....they only care about what is in the news at that point in time.
If they really cared (they don't it's all fake outrage) they would be talkig about the shoting that happen every day....not what they deem worthy at that time.
Interesting that these police apparently think that AR-15s would be useful in self defense against a madman shooter. Aren't we always told that they are only useful as "weapons of war" and for "mass slaughter?" So they are useful for self-defense after all? Hmmmm.
Think about how stupid this whole thing is. So they're going to lock 14 AR15s up in cabinets in theses schools. If a nut with a gun then attacks the school, the cops will -- instead of confronting the lunatic shooter with their service weapons that they maintain and train with regularly and have at the ready -- go the cabinet, unlock it, grab an AR15 they maybe have never shot before, make sure it's loaded and in serviceable condition, and only then go after the bad guy?
Ultimately it will be a deterent. I'll bet if some wacko is going to shoot up a school he will pick a different one.
I highly doubt that. School shooting lunatics are lunatics. They just want the headline of shooting kids before they turn the gun on themselves. I doubt this would deter an Adam Lanza or a David Harris one iota.
And if the shooter is a thinking lunatic, it might be a good school to target in that you also get to kill a bunch of cops. The gun cabinet and AR15 response policy just advertises where the police response will be. Think about it - shoot your way in, take out a classroom, then go lie in wait by the gun cabinet. As all the cops rush in to get their AR15s from the gun cabinet, take all the cops out, then go kill some more kids. Then you got an even bigger headline.

Again, this is the dumbest things I've ever read.
Where are you getting all that info? How do you know that they will never have shot it before, will not be trained on it, etc? Do you have a link, or did you hallucinate all that? Presumably they will be on top of the training aspect, and if they are not, obviously it's a debacle in the making. But I think police are doing a pretty good job when it comes to firearms training these days.
I think it is not a bad idea. Remember that in the infamous North Hollywood bank shootout, the cops went to a nearby gun shop to get rifles to try to stop a pair of heavily-armed and amored bank robbers. The advantage of a rifle is that it is much easier to shoot at distance, and will penetrate a vest more readily, which some of these wackos are wearing nowadays.
Sometimes people are not aware of the practical shooting issues of the common belt guns. The AR 15 is far more accurate that the hand gun. That is a hugh safety consideration as the rounds from the common police belt gun spray all over an area endangering the lives of the public. The AR will allow the responder to stay in control of the rounds.
