A Mayo Clinic study shows that Pee Wee League and Middle School football are as safe as soccer and basketball.

The doctor quoted in the article states that they "don't have enough data."

If your son showed great promise, would you want him to play pro football at any position beyond kicker or punter? I certainly would not. Forget concussions, these players suffer from permanently debilitating injuries to their joints and feel enormous pressure to take PEDs that also damage their bodies. No money in the world is worth that. I can certainly observe more retired NBA players without these conditions than retired NFL players. Then when you add in the concussions, you can see an even greater disparity in health.

I love sports. We have become a sports-obsessed culture and it harms us in a multitude of ways. I wish we kept sports in greater perspective.

Yes, just more deaths. In 1905 football was on the path to being outlawed outright. Only the intercession of Theodore Roosevelt save it. The implementation of the helmet was one of the solutions.

Trapper played without a helmet and is still here. Didn't do him any harm, as you can plainly see. What do you say to that?
