Nobody is forcing anyone to learn a 2nd language in the US. People are also not forced to graduate high school or learn other useful job skills. You either adapt to the changing world or get left behind, it is clear which path you have chosen.
Since the school didn't mandate this, and it was student led, then I don't see a problem.
Similarly, there should be no problem when students wish to pray at commencement.
Everyone should learn foriegn languages - and Arabic is particularly useful to know, since it is spoken by people with whom we are currently at war (al-Qaida).
This, more or less.
Non-issue.
@The 'second language' point:
Yes, Americans -should- be forced to learn a second language. Preferably spanish. We're one of the few first world countries in the world that doesn't mandate this. That should be a simple educational requirement.
Alegbra, sofa, zero... all scary Arabic words. Stop saying them of you'll be a terrorist.
Oh, the horror!

Lots of religious observers in the United States, in addition to Christians, "say God", too. They just don't always say it in English.
Do us a favor and never go to a U.S. Catholic Mass celebrated in Latin, Spanish, Italian, Polish, or any language other than English. Not one utterance of the English word "God", but lots of mention of God. Stay out of synagogues, too, lest you hear someone saying "God" in Hebrew in prayer.
Oh, the horror.

Dontcha just love it when people start threads using their biased interpretations of news articles?

You are forced to attend school. If your child is not in school the parents get called. If a child misses or is not attending any school parents are held accountable.
No wonder your descendents didn't take you. You might want to consider a continuing education course too. You could start with English. After all so many of you want to make it the official language that it might help to be well versed in it.
Arabic-speaking Christians say Allah, what else would they say?
Hey don't confuse the neocons like that. They can only hold on to one stereotypical view at a time.
