Surely someone knows about this. It seems that some states are trying to pass laws that would force gun owners to pay some hefty premiums to insure their guns. When asked about what happens to gun collectors, and there are some people who do only that, today the supporter of this silly crap said they plan to charge those collectors lower premiums since they would probably be more responsible by keeping their guns well hidden of locked up.

At any rate, I wonder how much money insurance companies could come up with this kind of Pelosi. It would help Feinstein and her people know who had what and where so maybe they will support crap like that.

If I have a swimming pool in my backyard - my homeowner premiums are going to be higher. If I have a trampoline - they will be higher yet. If the underwriters can justify the risk (accidental shootings, etc) then perhaps your rates should be higher.

Not you, personally.

Actually the Protection OF Lawful Commerce in Arms Protection Act made sure gun manufacturers or dealers would never be sued after the Beltway Sniper case against Bushmaster. The car companies would just love this level of protection.

Bushmaster paid $2 million in 2005 to victims of another psychopathic killer, John Allen Muhammad, and his teenaged sidekick, Lee Boyd Malvo. The two terrorized the Washington, D.C. area in 2002, and victims and their families negotiated a $2.5 million settlement — paid entirely out of insurance — of claims Bushmaster and a Tacoma, Wash. dealer were negligent in selling the high-powered rifle to Mohammed.

Bushmaster admitted no fault and refused to comply with most of the reforms initially demanded by the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence, which represented the victims. But the American legal system is adept at finding money for people who have suffered injuries or death caused by consumer products. Even though gun manufacturers have won double-barreled protection from Congress against the type of lawsuits that bedevil the makers of everything from toys to tractor-trailers, a lawyer for the Brady Center said gun manufacturers are hardly immune from suit.

Wound;t a normal personal insurance policy cover anything, you know, in addition to legal and civil penalties?

Car companies are sued when their product does not function properly. When was the last time you bought a gun a had it blow up in your hand? Now compare that to the Ford Pinto.

Maybe not cars but plenty of examples of nail gun lawsuits, why are they not protected from misuse of their product along with other companies.

They're trying to punish gun owners just like they do with everything else they consider undesirable behavior.
