Neither you nor I have any knowledge of whether the family's allegations are true, but does anyone dispute that if one of the entertainers at a theme park, or more than one, was routinely nice and friendly to white customers and was either hostile to or ignored black customers that that would constitute illegal discrimination?
Sure. If they have video showing it then I'm fine with them firing that person and giving the family free tickets as well as hotel stay to come back and even breakfast with one of the kids' favorite characters.
But only time will tell (and video) if this is real or just another ignored child and a family looking for their form of "justice".
Those characters are swarmed by kids when they come out to walk around.
My cousin did that for one summer and said never again. The costumes were disgusting and they were hot as hell, bulky and he said his legs were black and blue all the time from being kicked so much.
Maybe the other family was more fun? Can you imagine how it is to be in one of those suits, overheating and dealing with all those people? What is next? A celebrity will be sued because they took fun pictures with one person but not with another? I don't care what people claim, it is not traumatizing to a kid to have a character not give them the attention they feel they should. It is to see one without the head on, and I can get that, but not being as entergetic, give me a break! Now, when my little girl is old enough to go to the parks, the interaction is going to be scripted because of these crazy people who jump to conclusions and play the racist card. One thing I love about Disney is that it isn't scripted everywhere.
If that were my kid, I'd be over the top about it too. If you are going to run a business like that, then serve everyone equally. Period. What possible motivation would those families have for complaining if it did not occur as stated? If you took your kid to visit "Santa Claus" and the dude did not speak to your kid, you'd be crazy about that. Same thing here. But then none of us were there to witness it but I certainly believe it could easily have happened as they stated it.

They did not take the child to visit a specific character but the park itself.
That is different than going to the mall to see Santa.
Maybe the duck and the rabbit had allergies.
Or...maybe they had the flu, didn't want to infect the black kids, and started hugging the Caucasian kids with the intent of getting them sick!
The rabbit and the duck obviously hate Caucasian kids!
They should sue too! So obvious.
Last time I was at the California Disneyland, most of the characters were latinos.
The costumed characters?
Only certain face characters are allowed to speak and nearly all costumes cover visible skin. It's part of the illusion. How could you tell on a character like the White Rabbit?
BTW: There's a rather famous Disneyland episode of a family claiming Captain Hook was prejudice against blacks. Hook broke the rules and took off his glove to show the complaining family his skin was..... black.
