The difference today is that I have many more choices where I can spend my money. In the 1960's racism was far more systemic.

I still would not want to force someone to take my money, but don't expect me to utilize your services if you treat me as less than. However, I do believe in equal opportunity.
I wouldn't spend my money where I'm not wanted. For example, I don't buy at one particular sushi place because the owner is rude and I don't want to be swallowing any sushi made by someone who's rude.
Problem is, this guy mentioned in the OP, is breaking the law, and his business needs to be investigated and shut down.
The guy might be right, wrong, moral, immoral. One thing he's not doing is breaking the law.
If there was a signed contract, and the owner or his representative signed it without knowing the reason for booking the event, it is breach of contract to cancel the event. If the group didn't have a contract they are not very good event planners. Once that contract is signed by both parties, it is a legally binding contract.
No, a plain signature on a contract does not guarantee that any cancellation is a revocation of contract even if it's not spelled out in the contract. For example if the restaurant were to find out they wanted to eat nude. It would go to court, and I'm sure the people will mention they signed a contract and there was no provision about nudity. But the judge would throw it out.
A signed contract is no guarantee, contracts, intent, etc have to conform to legal precedent.
You're a Muslim. I didn't ask you. I asked that pretend-NY-Jew who is trying so hard to pose as a NY Jew, and failing dismally.
Why don't you put more of your concern on finding a shirt to wear so you can take a decent picture for your profile? Hey, Goodwill has good sales on Monday. I drove by one the other day and hey, they're 50% off today or something. Go get one.

So range of choices should figure into whether we ensure entitled rights to all Americans? Discrimination against homosexuals was systemic until they started speaking up too.
