Good Friday is a holiday in 135 countries and 13 states, but not yet a federal holiday in the US. How come?
It should be a holiday because majority of Americans are Christians, and other nations with large Christian majority or minority observes the holiday.

There's also no holiday between President's Day and Memorial Day (3 months), so Good Friday will be a good holiday in between, which will also create a 3-day holiday Easter weekend. U.S. financial and stock market is closed, and so are many public schools and many private businesses.

Yeah, I understand that 'separation of church and state", but there are always and have been exceptions. Many other secular countries observes the holiday too.

Our country is getting a large anit-christian sentiment, so it just goes overlooked.

Because of the religious aspect of it.

Schools that still have off mark it as a Snow Day or Spring Holiday.

That's your answer, look no further.

Except I would not be so kind, I believe it is a concerted effort to remove reference to the events versus being simply "overlooked".

Well Christmas Day is religious and is observed. If the religious aspect of it is such a concern, why not make it secularized reason? How come 13 states got away with it and observe it?

Actually most schools mark it as "Good Friday" holiday, or some part of spring break. Here in New York City and New Jersey, it is a holiday of its own. Our public schools also observe main Jewish holidays.

But Christmas is also secular. Good Friday isn't.

NYC has the entire week off marked as "Spring Recess"

Good Friday could be secular if it was portrayed as marking the execution of a man who threatened the peace of the Roman Empire - and whose death had a major impact on world history.

because a marketer hasn't started a GF sale yet. Once we have a Good Friday Sale, then it's an official holiday.

In this country we celebrate historical figures' birthdays, not their death days.
