In elections time is money. If one has a lot of money, they could easily win elections by simply making their name known and other names look bad by mere advertising hours on radio and television. This is a bit harder at the national level of elections, because people are very concerned about the president more than anyone else.

Never the less, those with money seem to have ease of swaying the votes of the uninformed. The vote of an uninformed voter can be a dangerous vote.

In my own state (FL) people voted in Governor Rick Scott, simply because he looked trustworthy on advertisements. Many did not realize that he is an actual crook whose company paid millions of dollars in fines, who attempts to use the public office for his own personal gain.

This permeates all issues in the government. The public must be educated about national issues, or else you have an entire segment of the population that believes in a faulty argument. Example: guns, healthcare, stimulus, and terrorist organizations in the middle east.

Politicians who lie to the public should not get away with it, among the voters I know that voted for Obama did not know that he voted to extend the Patriot act.

An uninformed voter is a dangerous voter. Analyze the voting record of your local, state, and national politicians. Take your time talking amongst your friends and family and neighbors about politics. Politics should NEVER be taboo. During the election cycle, go out and inform strangers about the various facts about the opposition and your supporting candidates.

The rich and powerful may have major influence in the media through the use of money and power, but the common citizen has enough numbers to produce more hours of information than anyone else.

Otherwise, you could face serious economic and social consequences.
