People have paid into medicare and pay premiums each month.
Medicaid is the freebie insurance that you foot 100% in your taxes. Your thinking is off, way off here.
Haven't you heard? The country is broke. We need to cut and the best place to cut is to eliminate Medicare for old people and just let them die off as quickly as we can. This is no time to get all dewey-eyed and blubbery. Hard choices need to be made and elderly Americans are nothing but a "luxury". We either pony up with more taxes or get rid of health care for those who have nothing left to contribute. Who wants to pay more taxes?

But that's what Romney was going to do so all those "old people" voted Obama back into office
Your side lost so get over it. Romney was going to kill off the old people, not Obama.
The strain is only on general practices, it actually relieves pressure and cost throughout the system. Including keeping people from using the emergency department as their general practitioner, and people getting care while they are less sick providing better outcomes.
Jesus did not encourage us to give to the government so the government can take care of the poor

Romney and Ryan were right. Medicare was a false promise. We can't afford to treat the old - well we are among the richest countries on earth and we could afford it if we wanted to, but we don't. As the OP pointed out, we couldn't treat everyone even if we were willing to pay for it, because there are not enough medical resources available. We need to focus our limited resources on things that will give the greatest economic reward and that certainly is not health care for retirees. That is just the cold, hard truth of the matter.

The "false promises" of the RW is reaching a lot of people ... fortunately Obamacare will cover for some of it.

Retirees have nothing to do with having trouble finding a pediatrician these days that is accepting new patients.
Maybe you should expand your investigation beyond healthcare for seniors.
You'll have your doctors. Congress is doubling the cap on H1B Visas and has a provision for it to be open ended so they can up that cap without having to pass another bill.
While most associated the H1B with IT workers, much of that work has been offshored over the past 4 years.
And this is a bipartisan bill.
New US legislation for doubling H1B visa, make Green Card easier | NDTV.com
The Immigration Innovation (I2) Act of 2013 proposes to increase H-1B cap from 65,000 to 115,000 and establish a market-based H-1B escalator, so that the cap can adjust to the demands of the economy. The bill includes a 300,000 ceiling on the ability of the escalator to move.
..
It proposes increased access to Green Cards for high-skilled workers by expanding the exemptions and eliminating the annual per country limits for employment based Green Cards.
Under the ACA why would anyone in their right mind WANT to be a doctor??
People have wanted to be doctors when they got paid in chickens. Not everyone goes into the medical profession to become a gazillionaire.
