For now, yes, they should connect the larger cities to start with via high speed rail. It isn't viable quite yet for the whole country though

Default Republicans are too religious and greedy to respect nature

Stop the crazy and you can win.
Republicans' lack of respect for nature is their most dangerous trait, I think. They can be lucid on many topics involving personal responsibility, but when it comes to the environment they use religion to dodge human culpability. They offer no evidence to prove their case except an ancient book written by narrow-minded people who didn't even know other continents existed. Imagine Jihadists bent on destroying nature for profit and you can see how dangerous the GOP is.

Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe is on record saying that his views on global warming are Bible-based. What happened to the First Amendment Establishment clause? That clown is making vital decisions based on blind faith, essentially forcing the Bible on taxpayers. Why are religious science-deniers even allowed to hold office, especially in charge of committees like Environment & Public Works? Freedom of speech should not extend to idiots framing critical public policy.

Republicans see nature as a warehouse full of stuff that "God" put there for people to take until Jesus returns. They are fine watching species go extinct and old growth forests logged into ever smaller patches. James Watt in the Reagan administration famously said (paraphrased) that nature would all be gone when Jesus returned so who cares if we use it up? That's a criminal mindset to those who see that Man's relentless destruction of nature is the real "End Times" threat. Invisible characters invented 20 centuries ago have no place in public science policy.

You're saying that the Christian Right has more effect on your psyche than seeing your tax dollars spent on social programs that only perpetuate society's ills?

I call bull****. Or just plain apathy, ignorance, and narrow-mindedness.
I agree with Republicans on social programs to a point. Welfare can be seen as a necessary expense to lower crime, since many of it recipients would resort to even more desperate measures if they had zero income (not everyone is cut out for a working life, believe it or not).

But you should be worried about the Christian Right's effect on your future unless you refuse to trust scientists on AGW and other environmental problems that wingnuts ignore.

Funny how right-wingers have no problem embracing the gadgets and medicines that science brings them. If they want to cherry-pick scientists' work they should be consistent and live like the Amish instead of wasting fuel in their pickup trucks.

Christians make up the majority of the Republican party. More likely that the Christians dump the remainder of the Republican party, because without the Christians, the Republicans are not really much of a party at all.

Christians make up the majority of the Democratic party and the rest of the US too, something liberals conveniently forget every time they try to bash Christians.

No one is "bashing" Christians The left just doesn't want the religious right to control the government.
