Not for the local people. That's where you get direct benefit from..local taxes.
Good state management has resulted in a few states having surplus funds..rainy day funds to be used locally.

I'd rather stronger city/state governments with more control over funds than at the Fed level.

Did you know that ? So why are they cutting FAA controllers/towers ?
We're cutting Head Start and WIC but Egypt gets to keep the $2 billion plus we send them.
Programs funded by the Fed that I've read about..all non-essential:
-Renovating mosques around the world in order to make friends
-Building a soccer field at Guantanamo Bay
-Paying for students in Indonesia get their Masters Degree (in Indonesia)
-Studying why 5 year old children can't still still for hours in a classroom
-Paying to digitize Greatful Dead tshirts
-maintaining vacant Federal buildings (this one's a biggie..$25 billion/year)
-Studying cow farts

And these are obvious NON ESSENTIAL programs that could be cut in the face of this recession.
Yet Congress is cutting WIC, Head Start, FAA, TSA, furloughing employees, etc...all essential services.

But I don't get to make any of those decisions on what to cut and neither do you.
Why does this even matter with these employment and utilization numbers? If food is spoiling and you have to throw it out, eating less will solve the problem? What does unemployment save? I don't get it? Fixing government doesn't matter when the private financial system is broken. Tossing people off the public dole and onto a junk pile is not going to help. If you don't deal with the shadow government FIRE sector its pointless.

Throwing people off the dole is not on anyone's list..welfare programs are exempt from the sequester cuts.

If my food is spoiling and I decide to toss out the TV what does that accomplish ?

$25 billion to maintain EMPTY BUILDINGS is non-essential spending.
We're going to keep cleaning/painting/maintaining empty buildings and cut WIC and Head Start instead ?

That's nothing more than Congress/WH playing us for pawns because we don't know where the money is being wasted.

If your food is going bad then throw it out and buy less food next time.
