Bribery likely, says red light firm Redflex - chicagotribune.com
Chicago's embattled red light camera firm went to City Hall on Friday in its latest effort to come clean, acknowledging for the first time that its entire program here was likely built on a $2 million bribery scheme. By its sheer size, the alleged plot would rank among the largest in the annals of Chicago corruption. An internal probe of Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. and a parallel investigation by the city's inspector general — prompted by reports in the Chicago Tribune — have cost the company its largest North American contract and all of its top executives.

Who says bribery of government officials is dead? I like how they are still denying it. Like, the company lost the contract and like, all the brass got fired, and the guy who did the bribe taking is like "Totally false." Looks like they're gonna get the cops involved, finally. When you mix law enforcement and commercial enterprises you get corruption.
Kids for cash scandal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Etc. If you care what that actually means, in the Kids for cash case,
—A 10-year-old girl reportedly got a month in a detention center for accidentally setting her bedroom on fire.
—A 13-year-old boy reportedly got 48 days for throwing food at his mother’s boyfriend during an argument.
—A 16-year-old girl reportedly got a month in a boot camp for creating a Web page making fun of the assistant principal of her high school.
—A 17-year-old boy reportedly got five months for drug paraphernalia — not drugs themselves — and it was his first offense.
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania had to dismiss 4,000 juvenile cases because of the compromising kickbacks.

I remember hearing, but I'm not 100% if true, that since when the red light camera snaps your photo, you yourself never signed a notice to appear in court, you don't have to. Since they need to convict you of this before they can charge you, simply stalling this is the best way to get out of it.
