I don't see why the GOP gets no blame. It's their budget this proposal comes from...and they refuse to vote on the budget until this portion, and even more cuts, are approved. They are both to blame for proposing these cuts. Blaming one or the other is very disingenuous.
This on top of the more than 700 billion in cuts to Medicare that he has already done. Obama is a big time austerity ghoul. The super rich want genocidal austerity and Obama the Wall Street puppet seems eager to impose those killer cuts.

SS and medicare need reform but not cuts.
With private pensions gone and lousy 401K balances and skyrocketing healthcare costs, future generations will really rely on SS and medicare when they get old.
I'd say raise the FICA 1% and gradually increase the retirement age to 68 like was done in the past.
It's really sad that we continue to send billions to foreign countries, fund billions in frivolous studies and then turn around and cut benefits to seniors who gave part of their paycheck to the government for decades upon decades.
at least you realized your mistake after the first vote, good for you. i agree with not wasting taxpayer money as well, there is much that can be cut without hurting what the government is required to do according to the constitution. chances are however that this budget proposal will end up like the others obama has submitted, going down to full bipartisan defeat.
It needs to be said that each year Obama has proposed a budget (which is more than the senate can say) and he has never had a single member vote for his budget. That should say something on its own.

Well, last year he never had a single member vote against his Budget plan. I don't believe any President has had a vote on their Budget proposal as proposed. As for the OP, doubtful Repub House will propose any Tax reform, ergo Medicare and Soc Sec ideas from Obama are moot.
Its a great budget, right. Everyone hates it so it must be good
You may well be correct.
