This is a perfect stereotype of why people or at least what people don't like about liberals. This push to make you do what they want you to. Its for your own good. How exactly is this any different than the Religious nuts who think porn should be illegal? Or Abortion or gun control? Its all the same crap. One thinks they have to help you lose a few pounds the other to save your soul. I am sick of both sides telling me how to live.

You want to do a documentary or PSA on fat in food, or sugar, or even porn fine, but stop trying to pass a law to force me to abide by your crazy crap.

You may not like the Mayor, but, apparently, the people of New York City do. Since the issue is a local one ... if you don't live in NYC why not let the resolution of the matter be handled by those whop have a direct interest. Or, are you advocating big government intervention? City rights. States rights. A true conservative would say that's where the matter belongs.

He's using it as an example, Einstein.

Yep. Liberalism is a mental disease. I'm convinced.

100% correct!

It may be a local one. But you know the old saying ... s*** rolls down hill! The problem is, it starts in places like NYC and California and eventually trickles down to the rest of us.

What about the drugs? I would like for liberals and conservatives to give me some sort of principle to go on because I don't seem to know what it is. Conservatives like drug laws but not bad food laws while liberals don't like drug laws but like bad food laws. Then would conservatives like to offer what they mean by government interference when corn syrup is subsidized while they don't like a ban on soda.

Could one of you even come up with any principle at all or is it going going to be an ad hoc monkey house where I can only speculate what idiotic an inconsistent move you plan on next?

As is conservatism, so called.

So I wonder. If soda went to market price without the subsidies, would we need the liberal ban against the conglomerate market manipulator?

Yeah, absolutely, you've got that right! Except, oh dang, wait a sec: Michael Bloomberg isn't a liberal.

He's an old-style paternalist conservative, who believes that elites (the real kind - his kind) should govern, and governing means telling little people what's best for them, whether they like to hear it or not.

NY soda ban is exactly why people hate, um, old-style paternalist conservatives!

M. Bloomberg is not a liberal. M. Bloomberg is a republican. In actuality, M. Bloomberg sounds like a conservative when speaking about preventing poor people from buying surgary drinks.

It sounds like the many, many, many conservatives who want the food choices of those receiving public assistance restricted.

This is an interesting topic, because the question becomes how can the state force you to wear a helmet on a bike or a motorcycle? How can the state force you to wear a seat belt? How can the state force you to buy car insurance? How can the state force all school children to go to school till age 16?

How can the state force you to vaccinations? and on and on and on.

The reality is that any government is going to get involved in the personal decisions of it's citizens.

Pretending that conservatives don't support this type of government interference is insane.

Banning surgary drinks isn't the first example of this.
