In a speech that spanned several decades of U.S. foreign policy, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, tied together the Vietnam War, the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and mostly blamed it all on Jimmy Carter.
Gohmert was speaking on a panel called “Too Many American Wars? Should We Fight Anywhere and Can We Afford It?”, and began by stating that “Vietnam was winnable, but people in Washington decided we should not win it.” He added that the “lesson” of Vietnam is that “you don’t send American men and women into harm’s way unless you’re gonna give them what they need” to win.
Maybe this guy should take a walk past that wall with the 58,200 names on it. Just another right wing chicken hawk all too willing to turn other people's kids into cannon fodder.

We didn't run from the Japanese Navy in the South Pacific.
Korea & Vietnam were cluster [MOD CUT/language] of political maneuvering.
As Iraq is and now Afghanistan and soon Iran.
Why were we in Korea?
Why were we in Nam?

Contrary to what ole Walter Cronkite said. We WON EVERY SINGLE battle during the Tet Offensive. This was the North Viet Nam's last hoorah. They were defeated and we left them off the hook. Sadly all those that died, died in vain because we didn't finish the job which has nothing to do with whether we should have been there or not. That has nothing to do with his statement.

The number of troops has NOTHING to do with it. When you know the enemy is over the hill and you CAN'T fire on them UNTIL they fire first is pu**y footing around.
When the Rules of R engagement says you can't fire until you ar fired upon what do you call it. THAT ROE is what caused a LOT of casualties.
When the enemy is bombing YOU from the DMZ and you STOP bombing back, THAT is pu**u footing around.
How long did we have the orders that said we couldn't bomb Hanoi, which was the HQs for the enemy?

No I wasn`t there so I was able to get news that wasn`t filtered through the military censors.

Exactly why every freaking politician should be forced onto buses and taken to those memorials along with Arlington Cemetary. Give them a taste of entering that memorial at the small ends and as you walk by get a feel for the depth of the sacrifice seeing that wall deepen and spread as you go.
No one walks away from there with their emotions under total control, NO ONE!
Should be required before they take any seat or oath of office.
