A group of GOP state lawmakers in North Dakota will protest new abortion restrictions on Monday at a Stand Up for Women rally in Bismarck, N.D., because they believe their fellow Republicans have gone too far.

"It's to say, hey, this isn't okay. We have stepped over the line," said state Rep. Kathy Hawken (R-Fargo) in a phone interview with The Huffington Post. "One of the key tenets of the Republican Party is personal responsibility. I'm personally pro-life, but I vote pro-choice, because you can't make that decision for anyone else. You just can't."
Good for them, it's long overdue for some Republicans to stand up to the authoritarians in their party.

Actually it is up to the Supreme Court to toss it out as it is blatantly unconstitutional...

Doesn't matter what the voters do - Roe v. Wade settled the issue.

Let's just put up individual rights to a vote. Great idea.

I guess Republicans in ND, flush with oil money, have no issue with squandering taxpayers' money on pointless referenda.

And this justifies ND Republican lawmakers wasting their state's money on a pointless voting exercise?

As a part time resident of the great state of North Dakota this absolutely disgusts me. The State Senator who is pushing this bill is a complete wingnut. She basically said that she wants woman that become pregnant via rape to carry the child to term because "otherwise it is the death penalty to the innocent fetus". How someone like this gets elected is beyond me. She should bare the cost of the court case that occur the second this is passed.
